The flag of the USA as it was flown from 1912 to 1959. The 48 star flag was known as "Old Glory".
The USA severed diplomatic relations with Germany on February 3, 1917 and declared war on April 6, 1917. On April 8, 1917 Austria-Hungary severed diplomatic relations with the USA; this was considered the equivalent of a declaration of war. Bulgaria broke diplomatic relations with the USA on April 10, 1917. The Ottoman Empire severed relations with the USA on April 23, 1917. The USA declared war with Austria-Hungary on December 7, 1917.
The Peace Treaty of Versailles was an agreement at the end of the war where the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan and the United States formalized Germany’s consequences for the war. The United States rejected the Peace Treaty of Versailles on November 19, 1919. The US Congress ended the war with Germany by a resolution of congress on July 2, 1921.The Treaty of Berlin was signed between the United States and Germany on August 25, 1921. This agreement provided the United States with all the privileges and benefits of the Peace Treaty of Versailles without membership in the League of Nations.
The Treaty of Saint Germain was an agreement ending the war for Austria. The United States rejected the Treaty of Saint Germain. The US Congress ended the war with Austria by a resolution of congress on July 2, 1921.The Treaty of Vienna was signed between the United States and Austria on August 24, 1921. This agreement provided the United States with all the privileges and benefits of the Treaty of Saint Germain without membership in the League of Nations.
The Treaty of Trianon was an agreement ending the war for Hungary. The United States rejected the Treaty of Trianon. The US Congress ended the war with Hungary by a resolution of congress on July 2, 1921. The Treaty of Budapest was signed between the United States and Hungary on August 29, 1921. This agreement provided the United States with all the privileges and benefits of the Treaty of Trianon without membership in the League of Nations.
